Jamiel has always been the quiet guy in school but music became his voice and he has never cease to be amazed by wonderful music with great melodies and lyrics throughout his world travels.

Born Muhammad Jamiel Bin Mohd Said, he completed his tertiary education at Singapore Management University, graduating with a degree in Business Management. He advanced his tertiary education overseas in an exchange program in International Business, at Thailand’s top university, Chulalongkorn University and determined to be successful in the music business industry.

Jamiel Said began his songwriting career at the age of 15 and music allowed him ease his family’s financial burden and that allowed him to survive throughout his university days by singing in clubs, singing English top 40s covers at night. Upon his graduation, he needed to work as a social worker at a Community Development Council to help support his family. Jamiel knew that his calling for music was too strong to be ignored and left his job as a social worker to continue his quest as an established singer/ songwriter. And with that, he was featured in Singapore’s premiere TV music showcase called Live and Loaded and performed his original song called Ballerina. And with resounding response from the public’s online vote, he was one of the few acts that was invited again to do an encore performance.

Being an avid traveler, he has traveled across South East Asia and now as far as Russia. Jamiel shares that music is universal and with that belief, he has performed all over the world, including Melbourne, Langkawi, Philippines, Jakarta. Recently, he did a solo Euro Tour for 5 weeks where he was invited to perform for events in Helsinki and London and later busked in Amsterdam, Munich, Verona, Venezia, Nice, Paris and Barcelona.

His biggest gig by far was when he was given the opportunity to open for Gigi, a legendary rock Indonesian band, in Jakarta and was also one of the main acts for the Singapore Music Festival at Fort Canning and also had his own showcase at the Esplanade Waterfront.

During his time as a signed singer/songwriter, his first single Nafas Ku paved the way for Jamiel to be nominated “Best Vocal for New Male Artist” at the inaugural Anugerah Planet Music (APM) 2013, a highly anticipated regional award show. He also became the opening solo act with his song Nafas Ku during APM 2013 which was viewed by millions from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei. Leading up to the award show, Jamiel was invited to perform for the showcase at both Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta in front of local media and dignitaries.

With the inspirations garnered from his Euro tour, Jamiel is currently busy in the studios, producing and arranging his old and newer Malay & English originals and aims to push his music not only locally, but also in the global market.
